The Composers Association of New Zealand is a group of some 135 composers and supportive organisations whose aim is to represent New Zealand’s composition community on matters of national and international importance.

SMP Ensemble was founded in October 2008 by its initial musical director, Andrzej Nowicki, and is based in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. The group comprises an ever-changing line-up of performers and contributors. Since May 2011, SMP Ensemble has been co-directed by several of its core members, Anton Killin, Karlo Margetic and Carol Shortis.

In 2006, Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington combined the strengths of their Conservatorium of Music and School of Music respectively to establishment of Te KÅkÄ«, the New Zealand School of Music. This partnership combines more than 60 years' experience in the fields of performance, composition and historical research.
